Acabo de ver esta imagen en un enlace que tenia una amiga en su pared en facebook.....es de la colección de las imagenes más poderosas del 2011. Está es mi favorita...creo que capta muy hermosamente el dolor del amor.....el rompimiento de algo....la destrucción de algo....ese algo es el amor, el concepto de pareja....la ilusión del matrimonio...del forever contigo mi amor. Como nos creemos eso....yo me encuentro en estos momentos en Chicago un lugar de comienzos y con un final que no existe. Llego a decir adios....nos vemos(sidenote en el coffee shop esta tocando "Goodbye My Lover" the james blunt...que apropiado no)

"LET GO" pienso que ella deseaba que el hombre que la esta ayudando sea el que la deje ir pero el trabajo esta en ella en estar bien en dejar ir ese sueño....esa imagen que habia construido para su futuro. Una vida junto a aquel que ella ama más que a ella misma. Ese es el miedo que me da a mi el enamorarme de ti.....el perderme y tranferir mi amor a otro por que es demasiado dificil o agotador amarme a mi misma tal como soy. Ese es el "work-in-progress" de la vida.....algunos dias mejores que otros.

Saludos a tod@s,

Espero que el comienzo del semestre para algunos, proyectos nuevos para otros y simplemente el dia dia que todos tenemos....hayan y sigan siendo momentos placenteros. Es importante que cada dia observemos algo bonito que encuentres en el camino....abre los ojos y mira que seguro lo vas a encontrar. Yo me encuentro en esas....el tiempo aca en NY y Toronto no ha sido uno super facil.....han habido momentos de tristeza, felicidad, gozo y sobre todo mucho trabajo. Pero he tenido la linda oportunidad de contar con una familia en ambos lugares que me recuerdan que hay que ver las cositas lindas de la vida.

Estoy apunto de regresar a la isla y queria provechar para darles a todos un "update" de las cosas que vienen por ahi. Llego pompeada con muchas ganas de trabajar creando espacios y eventos que celebren nuestra diversidad, creatividad y vida.

El domingo 2 de octubre comienzo con el Taller MOV/CON Corporal a las 6pm. Me encantaria que pudieran pasar y ser parte del taller el mismo esta abierto para bailarines y no bailarines y tiene un costo de $15(donativo sugerido). Lean abajo para más información acerca del taller.

El lunes 3 de octubre continuan las clases de Yoga en La Terraza a las 7pm en 507 Calle Barbe. El miercoles 5 de octubre no habrá clase y lean el proximo parrafo para saber por que.

El pasado mes he estado ocupada con dos proyectos bien grandes. El primero fue y sigue siendo la Tiendita MIMA donde tenemos una pre-venta de los CDs y LPs de MIMA. Los invito a que visiten la tiendita y coperen con esta artista puertorriqueña que se ha estado fajando creando experiencias musicales para todos nosotros. El CD esta riquisimo. El lanzamiento del mismo se celebrara el 5 de octubre a las 8pm en el Teatro de la UPR...GRATIS...si libre de costo y para el publico en general.

El segundo proyecto es mi nueva pieza multimedia, El Velorio de La Comay. Estoy todavia en el proceso de desarrollo y experimentacion. En Toronto tuve la oportunidad de sumergirme en el proyecto completamente como parte de una residencia e intercambio artisitco con performero Sunny Drake. La experiencia fue espectacular y sali de alli con mucha energia y con más preguntas que con las que llegue. La pieza trabaja el tema de el amor, crimenes de pasion, relaciones abusivas/manipuladoras y la identidad puertorriqueña. Si mucha informacion para cubrir en lo que espero sea un melodrama de 45 minutos que estrena el 27 de abril de 2012 en algun lugar cerca de usted. Todavia estoy buscando el lugar para estrenarla si conocen o tienen sugerencias de espacios/teatros para presentarla me avisan.

Pronto estare enviando un cuestionario para investigar más las relaciones entre parejas y la familiaridad que tenemos con relaciones no saludables.

Importante!! De aqui en adelante me gustaria comenzar a utilizar MailChimp para mis correos electronicos del Mailing List de LaPerformera. No estare enviando correo desde mi correo personal. Les pido que si no les interesa recibir ninguno de mis updates me avisen. Sientansen en la confianza de pedirmelo...creanme que no me molestare y no lo tomare personal. Yo por lo normal envio uno cada mes pero no más de eso por mes, aveces no envio nada por un tiempito.

Aqui información de los talleres/clases:

MOV/CON Corporal

El enfoque del Taller Movimiento/Conciencia Corporal es conocer el cuerpo a través de técnicas de danza contemporánea, contacto, improvisación y yoga. Enfatizando en el proceso de exploración y descubrimiento de las muchas posibilidades que nuestros cuerpos ofrecen dentro del espacio de la investigación corporal. La primera hora y media trabajaremos ejercicios de balance, inversiones, piso, transferencia de peso, pertenecía y danza contacto. Al final de cada taller abrimos el espacio para improvisación.

Los talleres se estarán ofreciendo domingo de 6pm a 8pm comenzando el 14 de agosto de 2011 en MC2(Ponce de León 1814 Altos, Santurce PR 00909). El costo es un donativo sugerido de $15. Para más información contactar a Awilda Rodríguez Lora al787-671-3393 o emailawilda@gmail.com.

En esta practica(1 hora) de vinyasa yoga se trabajan varios elementos para el bienestar de cada individuo. La clase esta enfocada en el fortalezimiento y flexibilidad del cuerpo, apertura de la conciencia y tranquilidad del espíritu.
La clase se ofrecerá los lunes y miercoles a las 7pm(miercoles 5 de octubre no hay clase). Se les pide un donativo de $7 o lo que puedan. Una vez comenzada la clase no puede ser interrumpida. NY/TORONTO La Performera updates!!!

Hello everyone,
Today is the first day of everything. Is an important day....today I believe in my capacity of completely surrendering and loving this life we all share. I've made de decision to become a full-time artist,,,YEP!! An artist who also is an Independent Producer, Yoga Instructor, Movement Practitioner and Educator, Lover, Friend, Hija, Artista, Hermana, Tia, Sobrina, Compañera, Trabajadora del Cuerpo, Improvisadora, HUMAN HAPPY TO BE WHO THEY ARE and everyday much more.
The adventure starts with the Independent Theater Production titled, S I T I A D A, from emerging performance artist, Helen Ceballos. A production that is fully funded by the labor of believing in the importance of presenting works that ignites a progressive dialogue regarding the unstable categories of race, gender and sexuality. The premiere is August 25th, 2011 at the Teatro-Sala Beckett in Rio Piedras, PR. sitiadadehelenceballos.blogspot.com.
At the same time I am developing a new solo multimedia performance inspired by the RETURN to my initiation. El Velorio de La Comay, is an exploration of the possibilities of the bodies digging into the knowing and discovering the fluidity that exist in my own expression and exploration of gender, cultural belonging, displacements, positions, sex, passion and death. Once again an independent production that will be achieved no matter the odds. Premiering and beginning tour on April 27th in Puerto Rico. I am working on the schedule and looking for performance spaces in the US and Europe. I am also working on proposals to perform the piece in Central and South America. Any contacts in any of these places please let me know. Soon will be sending press kit.
I will be traveling to Toronto(Sept. 22-29) thanks to the support and inspiration of Sunny Drake. Together we are working on developing and sharing work on a Art-Residency format. It will be an intensive workshop and I am so looking for it.
Before leaving to Toronto I will be in NY(Sept. 12-21) looking for funding and performance opportunities for the new piece, El Velorio de La Comay. Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated?

Nuevas Aventuras!! La Performera - MOV/CON Corporal y Yoga

Cambios me están moviendo..... Pues hace un mes comenze a dar clases de Yoga en la Terraza de mi apartamento en Santurce(Cerca de la Uni. De Sagrado Corazón). Las clases han estado bien chevere y el grupo que esta asistiendo traen una energía muy linda al espacio de mi hogar/terraza. They rock!!

Este domingo, 14 de agosto a las 6pm comienzo unos talleres de Movimiento/Conciencia Corporal con "Jam" luego de la clase.

Pensamiento diario...si lo pienso diariamente ¿que es ser hombre? ¿que es ser mujer? que si escojo a ninguna de esas opocione...exite la posibilidad de un nuevo género. Uno que sea creado por uno mismo. Se que no es solo mi pregunta, pero el porque me lo cuestiono es lo interesante. Hoy en el taller me lo pregunte mucho...COÑO AWILDA POR QUE LA OBSECIÓN. Y esa fue la nueva pregunta...y mano estoy encontrando respuestas-raices de esa pregunta. Y si me toco fuerte. Era algo que no queria bregar y por eso me encontre paralizada en el EXISTENTIAL HOLE. Wao! que rico y peligroso se siente, pero me lo voy a GOZAL como dijo un buen amigo, Jose Enrique.

Ha y algo más...la relación al articulo del Nuevo Dia titulado, "Hombres desesperados por casarse"....como y que significa el compromiso el amor para siempre con el otro....por ahí van nuevas preguntas, que SI son parte de mi proceso.

De camino a casa....de camino....regreso al lugar donde los espejos están bien limpiesitos con windex del ninetee cent store donde te vez reflejado constantemente...Si mano a trabajar se ha dicho en el trabajo que es full time y donde el período de que seas aprobado pa beneficios es mucho más largo que tres meses. Pa lla voy con fuerza a quitarme las gafas ponerme el eyeliner y pa lante a ver lo que soy y confiar a donde voy.

relationships + commitment

I am talking about all kinds of relationships. What kind of non-verbal commitment you have with your mother? I mean...what is that thing that you know you will never do to your mother in order to maintain the love that you share? I promise my mother to respect her, love her and be there for her in a positive way where she trusts that I will never harm her. That is the kind of commitment that is about negotiating the love and the pain that is part of LOVING someone...really anyone. We negotiate our time, our energy and our peace to maintain a place of calmness. These are the things that i am learning as I navigate the world with a different heart beat and a soul that is waking up to the experience of being alive and energized and starting to shine like SOLID GOLD.

I feel that I am relearning to love everyone...i may not be making much sense for some people but it is true. Every moment I share with someone I think about us about how we came together. I want to know your journey....what energy it took to move us towards each other.

Coming back to my previous thought about commitment, I think that relationships are fucking hard but the compensation-- the reciprocal energy of yummyness from the love you receive from the people you do relate to....makes it totally worth it. Yeah we can get hurt if we open up to someone...but just trust your self and listen to your heart it will guide you into what is a safe place or not. I believe in this, even thought I did doubt it before....cause sometimes the pain is too much that you don't want to go there anymore.

i will answer your questions with complete honesty and if it gets hard because of the emotions or the intensity becoming a little bit too much... we will talk about it.

Sorry I haven't written anything in a while. Life in La Performera's world is going thru some crazy transformations. I call it crazy because it doesn't always make sense. My brain, my thoughts, my stomach, my heart...well my whole body both physically and emotionally is transforming. In about 5 days I will be turning 33. So many people have been so supportive during this time of change and to be honest i don't even know how to thank them enough. Change isn't easy....change means something new and different. I use to be an addict to change. I will move from apts, from lovers, from practices, from so many things by choice. I will tell to myself ok I am done what is next...ohh and so many people got hurt so many leases got broken and so many gym memberships got canceled. yeah lots of changes and many broken promises...
i am currently questioning myself...i am asking myself many questions about
who i am?
what am i becoming?
do i like who i am?
will it get better after the change?....everyone has been so great at letting me know that change is good and that the complicated state of the change will ease. i know it will, but dam it is a bitch...
some days i am up and going with the change and i even embrace it and take it out for scenic drives...me and change have had some good times....but the good times are sometimes shorter in length that the bad ones...
i am learning to love the change and learning to be ok with it.

so here i am thinking about it again...the emotions are not of sadness or happiness the emotions are just still holding on to maintain the balance.

so i will go to bed tonight with change and we will hold each other tight and very still. we will fall asleep together without talking...silence will be our soundtrack

Acabo de ver la pelicula Paper Heart...y me puso a pensar y analizar las cosas del amor.
Cuando estaba en high school me encantaba la canción El Amor es...creo que ese es el titulo bueno el coro decia algo asi:

Yo he tenido la oportunidad de enamorarme muchas veces en la vida. mi mama siempre me enseño que con amor se cura todo. asi que desde muy chica he sido una adicta al amor. me encanta dar amor de diferentes maneras.
desde un te quiero hasta un adios. el amor es triste y descontrolado y debo de admitir hasta un poco peligroso.
En estos momentos me ecuentro analizando AMOR y como se puede tener de manera saludable pero sobre todo genuinamente y con pura honestidad.

Hay la honestidad son otros veinte pesos quizas para el proximo post hablo mas al respecto.

I am in my home listening to Marina and the Diamonds...what a beauty both the music and the artist. But that is not the point.
The Point!
do I have a POINT!
That is exactly what I am trying to figure out. It's funny that I ask myself the same question since I can remember. My point has always been switching, moving, falling and sometimes standing still.
People always say don't worry Awilda you will figure it out. At times I have...when i was in college my point was to fucking graduate and get the hell out of there(Florida). Yeah! that was my point then.
As i continue to figure it out the shifts i have gone from making myself out to the world because it was important to not be afraid of who i am and who i love. Now everyone has met my lover and i make art that talks about my fluid sexuality...now what?

I am interested in getting to know my mother, AWILDA.
Her name has always been present.
People ask me what does my name mean. I always answer "is my mothers name."
But it isn't that simple. My name comes from my farther's insistence in having a baby girl that looked just like his partner the women he felt in love with. Can i really engage people on this drama every time they ask me what does your name mean...i don't think so.

So instead i decided to make a piece that honors my mother and our name. Being named after your mother comes with a lot of responsibilities. Not only that, but having similar physical features makes even more complicated. Why?
Well, since i was a little girl everyone reminded me how much i look like my mother. i will be walking in a mall in PR and people will stop and ask me...
is your mom Awilda?
of course you are identical.

i've tried and i am still trying not to look like her. But as i try to push it i feel it catches me all the time. now i am working on Mamá Awilda: El Duet my new solo multimedia performance about the relationship with my mother and the love we have for each other plus all the complications involved in that love affair. Developing the work has been challenging and growing....yeah i am constantly being challenge by my feelings of being my mother. i am her.....maybe

I've deleted the beginning sentence of this posting only once. I am not sure if after I write it all I may delete it and start again. I won't....i will be myself.
Myself has difficulties writing. Since I was a child I've always had a hard time writing (pause)
i just freaked out.
I am going to be 33 in a month. This is a very special number. First of all it is Jesus age which is so awesome. It almost feels like I am sharing my birthday with a celebrity.
Jesus just reminded me of my mother...yep there is a story.
When my brother and I moved with my mother to Orange City, FL, we had to get use to a lot of changes. One thing that we didn't see it coming was my mothers way of expressing her frustration with us. In Puerto Rico, when she was frustrated with us she will simply share and we will get over it. In Florida we did the same expect that before each moment of frustration she will scream from the top of her lungs JESUS CHRIST!! The first time it happened I started laughing even though for us it wasn't funny... but come on... mami screaming JESUS CHRIST when she is mad. Maybe in some ways was to create a fraternal male figure in the room so I will pay attention and listen to her. I just came up with that and it may not make any sense.

I should start editing my post before I write to much and get frustrated. You know what I am not going to...

Oka! Asi que ha sido un mes(mas o menos) que no he escrito ningun posting. La verdad es que he estado super busy con STILL BLACK y quiero aprovechar esta ocasión para agradecerles a todos really everyone que nos han dado apoyo desde el comienzo de el proyecto pero por los que tambien continuan supporting the work and sharing it with others. Muchas gracias for realz!

Asi que busy siempre con eso. Pero contenta y orgullosa del trabajo. He tenido la fortuna de continuar trabajando en mis performances. I had a great show in Highways Performance Space & Gallery en Los Angeles where I performed La Diestra, as part of Queer Mondays, their performance series that allows a fun and open space for queer artist to perform their work.I really did had a great time and look forward to performing there soon. Great space!

Another project that has been on the works in my cabeza por más the un año y estoy bien happy to finally be able to perform a section of it (what will be a full-evening performance next year) titled,

Mamá Awilda: El Duet. el proyecto es un solo multimedia performance that is inspired by my mother’s gestures, dances and speech that tell the story of her life as a as a wife, single parent, free spirit, and survivor.

Este trabajo es mi tributo a mi madre que sin ella no seria la mujer fuerte que soy en dia. Ella me inspira...

I just got back from my trip to Glasgow and it was beautiful. I went there with my lover who was invited to speak at The Glasgow School of Art and we also screened our film STILL BLACK: a portrait of black transmen as part of Document 7: Human Rights Film Festival. After completing with our commitments we had sometime hanging out with new friends and old friends. I would like to take some time to share with you some of their artistic work and encourage you to go out and share a night with a new friend listen to new stories, share laughs, give a hug and say goodbye. I sometimes forget one of the main reasons I enjoy being alive and that is getting to know someones experience and point of view.

Estoy aqui escribiendo a las tantas de la noche por que no puedo dormir. 1. por los ronquidos de mami y 2. por que mi cabeza sigue maquinando(aka insomnia). Asi que de nuevo no puedo dormir pero esta vez estoy tranquila con la insomnia. He decidido compartir con ella y mantenerme tranquila. Asi que stress no esta invitado a janguear ni con mami ni con insomnia. Y quien sabe quizas luego de este retiro hasta insomnia decida no janguear con nosotras. Who knows lets wait and see. Estare en retiro de ayuno por 7 dias para no tan solo detox pero para crecer y conocer mas a mi mama la que inspiro mi nombre. Como la amo.....mientras mas pasa el tiempo mas crece el amor y la tolerancia a mi madre. Digo tolerancia por que aunque no querramos admitirlo siempre nuestros padres(guardians)nos van a frustrar asi como ellos se frustran con nosotros, la otra generacion. Pero lo importante es no olvidar el amor que nos une que una union que no se trata de sangre es algo mas alla de eso. Es una union que existe gracias al amor y el respeto que uno se da al otro. Acabo de regresar de Los Angeles despues de pasar pal de dias de un super rico calorsito and a yummy night of right hand adventures at Highways. I must say going down on L.A. was fun, hot and sweaty. The performance at Highways went well even though i wished there were more women present in the audience. Just cause for me it is some how sexier when i get to look at other women as i touch myself and make "you" smile. It is fun and empowering and i wish for all of us to really enjoy given attention to our bodies as a way of loving oneself.
I want to thank everyone that was present in particular my lover KRZ, my good friend Stephanie, my mentor Tim and new friend Kevin for their support and joyous laughter and yummy energy. Thank you for coming to the performance.
Now I am back in Oakland and working on finding new spaces to perform in the Bay Area and the world. I am looking for funding and ways of generating work and finding inspirations. So it is busy over here at the Crestwood Hotel and need to get back to work.

Espero that you are smiling right now and enjoying your present moment. I have to go and chill for a bit.

Aqui de nuevo en la brega. Estoy en Rooz Cafe in Oakland looking for part-time work, performance opportunities and funding to finish "i wanted to be a cheerleader but my cuntry didn't have the musical".
Yep all at once....that is what i call multi-tasking.

And yes i am developing a musical experience for i wanted to....piece. i was trying to hide this urge that has been inside of me since for ever which is to sing to the world. yeah is crazy! i didn't want to see it or hear it. but my mom always saw it she took me to singing classes and thanks to her i was part of two choirs in PR: el coro de niños de san juan and el coro de niños de caguas. i was very busy singing as a child. i hated going to choir, there were to many rules like no screaming, no soda(which i never understood) and i had to always be presentable(meaning have my hair slick back as a way of taming my crazy curls) But now at 32 i feel like singing and telling my story in a entertaining, funny and pop way.

i did it... i woke up and did yoga and now i am getting started with my new life in oakland, ca. i still needed some adjusting to do. now i have a bike, a desk and my (in development) altar. i am so excited for it. i use my little pink table that traveled with me from Chicago all the way to my new home. it is also the same little pink table that i used on my first solo performance. so as you can read it is a very ESPECIAL table. i placed a candle from my mother that has a shinning pink heart and the little gold traveling Buddha that i got 5 years ago on canal street NYC. like i said is still a work in progress. i will be getting a flower for the little white vase with the words "laugh often" printed on it. Gracias Mami!!
Now going back to work and smiling.

Hola! Aqui yo de nuevo.....so we are officially moved in....we live in Oakland, CA.
AND...
I AM LOVING IT!!!
The temperature is great and I already have a tan from just doing errands. Just like good all Puerto Rican days. no estoy diciendo que Oakland is the same as Puerto Rico...just that it is providing some home loving sun that reminds me everyday on how lucky I am to have grown up in the beautiful island of Puerto Rico.

Sorry me emocione.

Pero nada...here I am, writing this words from my new cute little wooden desk in a cozy apartment in the Crestwood Hotel(is just how I like to call the building) that oversees the mountains and the lit Parkway Theater sign. Life is good in the west coast.

Now I am ready to get to work. I will be rehearsing/writing and doing yoga everyday for the next 13 days until my performance at Queer Mondays at Highways...L.A. Son! I am excited. It's my first performance in the west coast. I will keep you posted on the preparations and performance.

I am awake on a Sunday at 6:30am. Yeah and I can't go back to sleep. I was woken up by a weird dream. I think I was a teacher or a camp instructor I was in charge of a bunch of kids y una nave spacial. Estabamos preparadonos pa take off.....I was kinda of nervous cause we were flying to space. But as we are getting closer to the moon the aircraft turned around and made a weird flip y todo el mundo se friqueo. Yo me asuste pero no tube tiempo para freak out tenia que ser la adulta y mantener la calma....and then I woke up.
Que quiere decir? Que significa?
Pues no se. Pero te puedo contar que me levante muy asustada. Un poco friqueada. It got me thinking about a lot of things and a lot of people...La Familia, La Pareja, Las Amistades, La Vida, La Muerte y mi relacion con todas estas cosas. y sobre todo it got me thinking about: El proposito y la existencia.

Tengo que escribir.
Tengo que escupir.
Esto que tengo dentro de mi.
Desde que era niña siempre he tenido una relacion rara con la muerte. La primera memoria que se me viene a la mente son las palabras de mi madre " te crio con fuerza y sabiduria para que puedas sobrevivir en este mundo sin mi, por que en cualquier momento tu padre o yo nos podemos morir. Y tu tienes que estar preparada para vivir la vida sin nosotros" Pa lo que sea...siempre crei que el tough love de mi madre me habia preparado para la danza con la muerte, pero no la danza se hace con cautela y con la cabeza baja por que no se como hablarle o como invitarla a bailar conmigo en armonia. La muerte me da tristeza y me da dolor. Algo interesante sobre esta relacion rara con la muerte es la coincidencia de que en cada vez que me he graduado alguien se a muerto en ese dia o durante ese tiempo. Cuando me gradue de primer grado mi Abuelita Gare nos dejo y recuerdo ver a mi padre y mis tias tristes pero yo no entendia por que tan triste. Luego estubo mi graduacion de mi barchillerato y mi Titi Coquin tambien nos deja repentinamente y ahi estaba mi padre triste con nosotros buscando amor y calma conmigo, mis hermanos y mi mama(su ex-esposa). Y ahora termino mi maestria en Diciembre 2008 y Abuelo Juan acompaña a mi Abuela Juanita que en paz descansen.
Momentos raros pero impactantes en mi vida. Y mientras cresco y aprendo a bailar con ella, se me hace cada vez mas y mas dificil poder enfrentarla con tranquilidad.

Wow!!! Año Nuevo...Vida Nueva...casi-casi
I know I haven't written anything in a while. Well life has been very interesting in the past months. Mi Abuelito Juan passed away on Dec. 22 and las fiestas fueron un poco amargas. I was far far away from my homeland Puerto Rico and it was hard not being phisychally close to my mama, my bros, my tias, tios, primas well everyone. But the beautiful part was that I was with my new family- my lovers family. I feel so lucky to now have family in Puerto Rico, New York, Chicago and now Los Angeles. Even though it was hard beeing so far on the west coast it proved to be a life learning experience and a loving experience because i was being loved and taken care of. I felt very lucky. Gracias a mis familias y my Loverbirl- I LOVE YOU ALL SO SO MUCH.

This is really a very important thing to happen to us and the film. It has been lots of work and heart into this project and we hope everyone can get a chance to view STILL BLACK because I believe in it and in it's importance in creating dialogues with many queer communities.

ok...otro sueño con mi papa.
bueno la verdad es que no son sueños, son pesadillas. siempre son en un lugar raro. a place where i can' t call home a place where i feel extremely un safe. but here we are my farther and i in this place and we are trying to find a way out. usually in the "dreams" i am running away from him. this time i was helping him to get out of this building/field weird house place. But he couldn't walk well because he was insured. I asked him "papi donde te lastimastes" and hi points to his penis and there is blood bleeding tru the front of his pants. i really don't want to see how or where he is insured. i spot some people around the house and asked them if they had a first aid kit to help my farther. the man answer yes and my farther left wih them and i left him there.
there is a lot more but i can't remeber.
i can't remember many things from my childhood and sometimes it freaks me out. quizas es mejor no saber nada y seguir viviendo con la duda o simplemente dejar ir esa memoria gris del pasado.

So, I got back from mi islita. Y que puedo decir. La pase super!! un poco emocional pero super bien. Mientras pasan los anos y continue visitando la isla se me hace mas y mas dificil entenderlo todo. I am at Ohare airport waiting at gate K15.
Before leaving I created a check list of the most important things i need to bring.
#1 bathing suit
#2 patience
#3 love
#4 journal and reading materials.
This is a very important trip for me. You ask why? I know i try to visit my family all the time but this time is different i am 31 almost an adult and ready to deal with some adult shit. I am hopping that with this little get away to puerto rico i will be able to confront myself and my father.
I am bringing two books.
First one is "1001 Beds" by Tim Miller. Awesome book!!! i get inspire every time i read from it. Is like picking the brain of what i think is one of the most important performer and activist in this country(US) the second book was a gift from my farther is titled "poder, libertad y gracia" by deepak chopra. I am really not a fan of chopra's work but i felt that it will make sense to read something about power, liberty and grace on my way to visit my farther.
I will keep you all updated...

i find it very interesting how people tend to define ones identity based on the way we wear our hair. if it's to short - you are butch. if it's too long - you are a femme. i just cut my hair and had an emotional/spiritual journey.

since i can remember i've always had a weird relationship with my hair. my parents didn't cut my hair until i was seven years old. i was so excited to finally turn seven so i can cut my hair. when i was in elementary school i won a raffle, mind you i hardly ever win raffles but i won this one and it was "a free haircut" yoohooo!!! so mami and i went to the salon. i was kinda nervous just because it was going to be the first time going to a salon to get my hair cut. the hair stylist asked me what i wanted and i told her that i wanted long layers that way i will keep my length and also add volume(like i needed more volume. maybe i did) so the stylist starts cutting and cutting and cutting she just doesn't stop and there it is my very first short haircut. yeah she chop off almost all my hair leaving me with what looked like an 80's mullet. yeah i had a mullet. what is really fucked up is that when i went to school the next day my boyfriend (yeah i had a boyfriend in elementary school) dumped me. he looked at me and said this is not going to work. that's when my hair venture and my fucked up relationship with my hair started.

Here I am seating at my couch, getting ready to finish my grant application. This month has been one of intense writing. As a result from all this writing, I am really learning about my work. what makes me move? why i choose performance to say what i have to say? and the biggest of them all WHY IS MY WORK IMPORTANT? there is no definite way in describing ones work and its importance to the world. I am in the middle of really questioning myself and why i choose to be a performer.
When I moved to Chicago to become a Performing Arts Manager, I thought this will give me the opportunity to have slight change of career and I would start letting go of the idea of becoming a famous fabulous awesome performer. But here I am in the cold-ass city of Chicago, and I have never felt stronger about my work and my role as a performance artist. The city has inspired me to continue to create perfromances that have something to say and that are important to the world.

It has to be this cold in Chicago. I am waiting here at the bus stop freezing my hands as i type my thoughts for you. I have a presentation today at 5pm, and like most of you know i procastinated and now i am freaking out. I'll let you know how it goes.
